Variation in Emission and Absorption Lines and Continuum Flux by Orbital Phase in Vela X - 1

چکیده
High resolution spectral studies were undertaken at orbital phases (φ) 0, 0.25 and 0.5 on the high-mass X-ray binary (HMXB) Vela X-1 using archival Chandra data. We present (a) the first detailed analysis of the multiple strong narrow emission lines present in φ 0.5 (b) an analysis of the absorption of the continuum in φ 0.5, and (c) the first detection of narrow emission and absorption lines in φ 0.25. Multiple fluorescent and H-and He-like emission lines in the band 1.6 20 Angstrom (Å) in eclipse are partially obscured at φ 0.25 by the X-ray continuum. The φ 0.25 spectrum displays 3 triplets, 2 with a blue-shifted resonance (r) line in absorption and the intercombination (i) and forbidden (f) lines in emission, and shows in absorption other blue-shifted lines seen in emission in eclipse. At φ 0.5 the soft X-ray continuum diminishes revealing an ”eclipse-like” spectrum, however line flux values are around 13-fold those in eclipse. Estimating the continuum of quasars using the articial neural networks
A lot of absorption lines are in the bluewards of Lyα emission line of quasar which is well-known as Lyαforest. Most of absorption lines in this forest belong to the Lyα absorption of the neutral hydrogen in the inter-galactic medium (IGM). For high redshift quasars and in the continuum with low and medium resolution, there are no many regions without absorption, so that, the quasar continuum i...
متن کاملOrbital Phase Spectroscopy of four High Mass X-ray Binary Pulsars to Study the Stellar Wind of the Companion
Our work focuses on a comprehensive orbital phase dependent spectroscopy of the four High Mass X-ray Binary Pulsars (HMXBPs) 4U 1538-52, GX 301-2, OAO 1657415 & Vela X-1. We hereby report the measurements of the variation of the absorption column density and iron-line flux along with other spectral parameters over the binary orbit for the above-mentioned HMXBPs in elliptical orbits, as observed...
متن کاملOrbital Phase Spectroscopy of GX 301 – 2 with RXTE - PCA
We have investigated the orbital phase dependence of the X-ray spectrum of the High Mass X-ray Binary pulsar GX 301–2. Here we present the results from a spectral analysis of two sets of observations of GX 301–2 with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). Of particular interest are the variations of the absorption column density and the iron line flux along with other parameters of the spectra...
متن کاملXMM-Newton X-ray spectroscopy of the high-mass X-ray binary 4U1700−37 at low flux
We present results of a monitoring campaign of the high-mass X-ray binary system 4U 1700−37/HD 153919, carried out with XMM-Newton in February 2001. The system was observed at four orbital phase intervals, covering 37% of one 3.41-day orbit. The lightcurve includes strong flares, commonly observed in this source. We focus on three epochs in which the data are not affected by photon pile up: the...
